Press StatementDistinction Gallery retains its ritual of exhibiting highly skilled artists by focusing September's show on Los Angeles based artist, Andy Haynes. Haynes is a favorite of the gallery and his new works are nothing short of breath taking. His works presented in "Quiet Homes Await an Indian Summer" evoke ideas of spiritual guidance, innocence, growing, learning, and finding patience all surrounded by contemporary American Traditions. The artist reveals his dedication to depicting the journey of life and capturing the moments of which life is comprised.
The opening reception with the artist, as well as, live music will be held on Saturday, September 11th, 2010 from 6-11 PM. Complimentary wine and beer will be provided for those over 21. In addition our studios featuring the work of 35 local artists will be open as well as over 50 international artists on view in "The Alley". Distinction Gallery hopes you will join us in celebrating this exceptional show.
Andy Haynes will also be giving a demonstration at Distinction on September 12th (The following day) from 10am-Noon on alla prema portrait painting and palette mixing. The cost is free for teenagers and $5 for the general public. Reservations are required via email to melissa@distinctionart.com
Distinction Gallery is a 7000 square foot building which houses the front gallery: which changes monthly, "The Alley," featuring new and previous works from over 75 artists, ArtHatch, a non-profit focusing on work from teenage artists from the San Diego community, 14 artist studios, ranging in size from 150 to 800 square feet, featuring the work of over 28 local artists, and "The Lounge", containing 8 walls featuring local artists. The front gallery features contemporary and cutting edge art work with a soft focus on Urban Surrealism. Distinction exhibits work by emerging and internationally acclaimed artists.
A variety of art books and prints are now available for purchase.
