Translating to \u201cSaviour of the World\u201d, the Salvator Mundi painting shows Jesus in a blue <a href=\"https:\/\/www.history.com\/topics\/renaissance\/renaissance\"><u>Renaissance-era<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;dress. He is holding a crystal orb in one hand while using his fingers to make a cross with the other hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This painting was rediscovered in 2005 by a British group who bought it for a mere $10,000. In 2017, it was auctioned in New York for a whopping $450.3 million at that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Interchange (Willem de Kooning)<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Willem de Kooning\u2019s Interchange is an oil painting&nbsp;based on the abstract form. De Kooning is one of the pioneers of the abstract style of art, leading the way with his distinctive style. This painting was made back in 1955.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was sold back in 2015 at around $300 million, making it the most expensive painting in the world at that time. Its position was replaced by Da Vinci\u2019s Salvador Mundi a couple of years later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Card Players (Paul Cezanne)<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Card Players was a series of oil painting art&nbsp;done by French artist Paul Cezanne before the turn of the 20<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;century.
