Cole Mattingly

Cole Mattingly is an artist currently making work in Southern California. Cole received his Associates degree from Palomar College before transferring to San Diego State University to pursue a Bachelor?s degree in Studio Arts.? Volunteering at the Distinction Gallery in his home city of Escondido during his teenage years gave him a glimpse at the possibilities within the world of art. Cole has shown artwork at multiple galleries in Escondido, including the Distinction Gallery, the Escondido Arts Partnership, and Raven?s Nest Gallery. Since 2017, Cole has had the privilege to show his work through the greater San Diego area, forming connections with galleries from Oceanside, to Chula Vista.? Cole makes artwork primarily in the ceramic medium, and has built skills in other sculptural media in addition to metal smithing, photography, drawing, painting, and various print making techniques. Cole currently works at Palomar College as a Studio Technician for the Ceramics department. This position allows him to continue his creative practice, assist the latest generations of artists, as well as learning from artists who have decades of experience in creative practices.? Cole seeks to push his conceptual boundaries, and advance his physical skillset. With future projects he aims to create unique evocative experiences through immersive installations and intricate artwork. On top of building his artistic skillset, Cole wishes to nurture, expand, and create his place in the art community.
