Marian Willmott

I begin my paintings by working from life, letting the process evolve into an interior dialogue, a journey to align myself with my intuition while putting aside intention and judgment. I mainly paint landscapes and figures, pushing abstraction and focusing less on detail. It is a way for me to connect to the energy we are all a part of, striving to stay present to the mystery and deepen the encounter. My work is exhibited at the S.P.A.C.E. Gallery in Burlington, VT, the Bryan Memorial Gallery in Jeffersonville, VT and on my website, www.willmottstudios.com.

I also write poetry, publishing in a variety of literary journals, two chapbooks, and a full-length collection. I continue to write, although visual art is my primary focus.

I received a BA in psychology and painting in 1968 and an MFA in painting in 1987 from Goddard College and the Vermont Studio Center. I raised three children and taught art part time in the public schools.
